Southborough Common

I often wonder what made this deep ditch on Southborough Common. Was it for herding animals off the Common, an old lane or an old water course. Its quite a spectacular feature and is best photographed in Autumn when leaves are on the ground so that it does not just look black. Looking up the ditch I thought of Wide Angle Wednesday.  I think the subject is supposed to begin with N. There are some gNarled old roots in the ditch.

I had resorted to a walk on the Common to get a blip after waiting for 30 mins in the car on the drive with my camera trained on the bird feeder waiting for a flock of long tail tits to come back after I scared them off getting into the car.
