Gordale Scar

Tony suggested making the most of the promised good weather day with a circular walk in Malhamdale so we drove out early doors and parked up in the village.  It was very bright and cold, indeed a smashing day for a walk.  We took in Janet's Foss first.  Sadly there is ash dieback along the valley leading to the waterfall which could alter the wooded nature in future.

From Janet's Foss we walked in to the arena at the bottom of Gordale Scar and then climbed up the side of the waterfall.  My blip is taken of Tony blipping the top part of the waterfall where we took a rest on level ground before continuing out of the gorge on to the moor.

The walk across the moor to Malham Tarn was chilly but very fine and with few folks about.  We turned down through the dry valley and paused on top of the Cove for a cuppa and to enjoy the view down the dale before descending to the stream and, from there, back to the village.

We decided to avoid cooking and lunched at the Town End Tearoom (Airton) on yummy local beef casserole in giant delicious Yorkshire Puds - the cafe is to be recommended if you are out that way.
