Digging wells

The Red-breasted Sapsucker (Sphyrapicus ruber) is drilling holes in the trunk of the Honey Locust tree. He then revisits the "wells" to drink sap. I've watched ( and probably blipped) Hummingbirds and squirrels drinking from the same holes.
Rainy day today. Visiting with a longtime friend brought warmth to the day.
