Christmas preparations

It was another of those full on days today. Management team meeting looking at finance, cyber security resilience (pages and pages of it), procurement strategy, internal audit, mental health and resilience, shared services, survey results, property, planning Board and Committee meetings, social impact pledge and so on.

So much of it just to make sure we are doing what we ought to be doing. It took a while.

Then a series of phone calls, discussions over issues and how we progress them in line with our policies: letters and emails and then preparation for tomorrow.

I just made it to hospital to visit my 92 year old blind aunt before closing time. She is fully recovered and ready to go home. But because her care package was cancelled 48 hours after she went into hospital 12 days ago it seemingly will take up to 4 weeks to reinstate it. She was moved into another hospital today to await the return home. Needless to say she is frustrated!

After the visit I briefly had time to visit a well known garden centre which was having a members’ evening - an incitement to spend cash. Christmas lights were everywhere and the shelves were stacked high.

I resisted the Christmassy stuff but got some garden things at discount. So not a bad evening.
