House of Bruar

No, this isn't the  House of Bruar, which is holding its big pre-Christmas Sale this weekend, but the rather charming ruin as seen from the overflow- to-the-overflow-carpark. The old maps tell us it was called Balnacroft.

Having seen the publicity and having been there only once before, several years ago and, despite living in suburbia, think of ourselves as Country People, thought we'd see what the fuss was about.

We looked through every department, all those shops-within-shops (a system I find infuriating), marveled at the prices which we still considered too high for likes of our budget, so we came away only with a pair of socks each and a tub of olives. We did enjoy excellent sandwiches from the refreshment stall and the many free samples from the suppliers of Scottish fare.

Also enjoying free samples were the wild birds, who helped themselves from the bins of birdfood on sale - see extra photo.

So, an interesting day out but I doubt we'll rush back.
