The Tide was Out

8.1C with sunny sunshine. Wind N/NNW to 25 mph with gusts to 37 mph.

Grocery shopping.

Went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach and Kiel to Carskey Bay. There were some seals on the rocks at Kiel.

At Carskey we walked along to the far end and came back again along the path at the back of the beach with the last little bit back on the beach itself. As we were walking along we saw something on the beach, down near the water. Right out in the open there was an Otter. It clearly saw us coming along but it carried on with a little cleaning, some rolling in the pebbles, and quite happily looking around. Not until we were within 30 or 40 yards did it get up and wander into the sea where it bobbed over a couple of waves before swimming off in a leisurely fashion. We enjoyed the whole spectacle very much indeed.

Later Apothecary7 was painting.
BBC Radio 2 was accompanying the painting.
