Washing by hand

When she was 15, Pilar started washing clothes by hand for the
wealthier families in her village. She carried it to the washing place
near the river a couple of kilometres away, where they would hang up the clothes to dry, as it would have been too heavy to carry back wet.
On weekends, she would go back to wash her own family's laundry.

Pilar is now 75 years old, and she has raised five children. She got
her first washing machine 20 years ago, but she stills does her
laundry by hand in her patio
