Old Mother Shipton

I called in to Knaresborough Market Square to photograph a relatively new £43 000 statue of legendary prophetess Old Mother Shipton. 

I tried to photograph it last week but the bright sunshine produced too many unwanted reflections and shadows - a dull day worked much better.

She sits on a bench near Blind Jack of Knaresborough, the town's other notable celebrity.

Whilst I was quietly snapping away, I became aware of a noisy group of men behind me, speaking in a language I couldn't understand. 

It turned out they were taking selfies and group shots whilst talking to Blind Jack! - so I couldn't resist taking the extra before I left.
