Burning through the clouds

This morning I took the 0700 flight to Wellington. Going that early meant a stress free trip to the airport, as the traffic is light before 0600. Plus time for muesli and coffee in the lounge before the flight, and a leisurely coffee and chat with another early traveller before starting the daylong meeting.

The homeward flight was delayed as Auckland had been subject to over an hour of electrical storms in the early afternoon, putting all flights behind thereafter. I've put as an extra a photo taken when leaning across the woman in the window seat (she was happy to let me take a photo, and used her phone to do the same). This is Taranaki (called by the English, Mount Egmont); still with a cap of snow.

After I got back to the apartment, I took the Pentax onto the deck with some crackers and cheese, and a glass of Primitivo, and followed the setting of the sun. I chose this one before the sun emerged into the gap between the cloud bank and the horizon, and blinded anyone looking that way.

S is out at a poetry group which she meets with monthly. We might (or might not) have a "proper" meal when she is back.
