FINAL LAUNCH . . .

Today could be the final launch of the Bridlington Lifeboat 12-12 Marine Engineer, as she answered an emergency call into the North Sea at lunchtime. Her replacement, a new Shannon class all-weather lifeboat 13-22, arrived on Sunday, ironically hitting the shore at precisely 13.22 !
At a cost of £2.2M, the Shannon class lifeboat is the first modern RNLI all-weather lifeboat to be powered by water jets and not propellers, making her 50% faster than the lifeboat it replaces. The new lifeboat will be named Antony Patrick Jones.
