Eccles cakes

I should have been born in Eccles but mum was staying at her sister’s house because Dad was away during the war. I did live there until I was six. The locals said the cakes weren’t as good unless they were Bradburn’s Eccles cakes. These purport to be the real ones but they’re not made in Eccles any more.
