Stonehaven Cross

The Chapel of St. Mary and St. Nathalan is a ruined church overlooking the North Sea north of Stonehaven in the Mearns of Scotland along the northern shoreline of Stonehaven Bay.
The founding of this Catholic place of worship is associated with St. Nathalan who lived around 650 AD. The structure is known as Cowie Chapel.
The light was superb today and there were sailing ships in the bay. I suspect St. Nathalan would have been pleased to see the cross facing out to sea.
Its a familly cross but I would like to think that it also commemorates mariners lost at sea over the centuries ................
