Local Knowledge

A short drive followed by a short walk around mid November brings me to a place where the Herald of Winter (Hygrophorus hypothejus) fruits reliably. Its glutinous, shiny cap and its egg yoke yellow gills make it unmistakeable.
Some days it has been hard keeping up with blipping during my illness, but it has given me something to concentrate on. I can't imagine a day without Blip. This is my 2500 consecutive blip, and I wanted something fungal to mark it, so knowing a reliable place to find these was very useful.
