Morecombe Bay sunset

There was a sharp frost and the first hour of working in the quarry was finger-numbingly cold. But the sun shone for most of the time and some of its warmth managed to seep through eventually. The cold weather didn't put off the birds - yesterday's peregrine and ravens were joined by five buzzards.

We were back down at the brickworks by 1pm, and decided to head to Silverdale for a walk. We were surprised by how busy it was, but managed to park near Wolf House and then walked down to Jenny Brown's Point. We walked along the shore for a while, which was treacherously slippy with some areas of quicksand, so headed up to Jack Scout and then strolled back to Wolf House for coffee and some delicious pistachio, lime and coconut cake.

I'd been feeling quite tired, but gained a renewed rush of energy after the caffeine and sugar hit, so we walked back down to Jenny Brown's point to watch the sun set over Morecombe Bay There were several other photographers around and later I discovered that one of them had been Gladders - we must have just missed each other by a matter of yards!
