Jack-go-to-bed-at-noon.....

......called this as come noon the flower gently folds away until next morning, fascinating!

Yesterday's mystery has been resolved with thanks to blippers, Riwaka and Pleach, also a very lovely detailed explanation from mollyblobs, making for a good read, thanks ladies :)

Tragopogon coelesyriacus is found throughout temperate Asia — Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria & Turkey, and also into Greece. It is a genus of the sunflower family. This variety has the purple flower while the more common variety is yellow, both are located in fields with other wildflowers or weeds.

It's also known as: purple or common salsify, oyster plant, vegetable oyster, goatsbeard, Jerusalem Star or simply salsify, it seems you can never have too many names :)

Delighted the mystery has been resolved and now I'll watch with interest as it progresses through the different stages.

Monday.......all day sun, warm with a gentle breeze. A day for photographing more tortoises.....novelty ones, like candles, nail brushes, money boxes, ash trays, trinkets, magnets, brooches, soap and cologne, pencil sharpners........a long and tiring job but nearly finished.

Happy Monday everyone :)
