The Edge of the Wold

Tor Tai Chi

Gus and Wifie are framed in St Michael's Tower on Glastonbury Tor as the sun sets.

It was happy timing that after a long drive down from Cumbria we arrived in Street in Somerset just as the sun was going down in what looked like a promising sunset sky. We all needed a leg stretch, so we headed for Glastonbury Tor, and found our way up the north side. The last time I walked up the conical hill was nearly 40 years ago when I was a post graduate student in Cardiff.  There were no drones flying round the top then and I don't recall seeing anyone with dreadlocks. Glastonbury's myth and magic is more of a draw today to those in search of mystical experience, and there were a lot of dreadlocked people on the west facing side silently watching the sunset.  The first extra shows the Tor against the sunset sky as we walked back to the car, the second was shot on the way up.

It was a flying visit to Somerset to see Sue and Chris, with a long and very delayed drive home on Sunday. It was worth it, though, to see them for the first time in two years, and at a challenging time for them both. I will back blip entries for Saturday and Sunday when I have time in the next few days.

Back blipped on Monday 20th November 2017
