Redpoll

We're having a quiet day after being up very early to take Rog to the airport.  Hopefully he is now well on his way over the Pond towards home.

I fell over at the orienteering yesterday and have woken stiff and sore so a good excuse to just rest up, particularly as the rain has set it and it's too miserable to do anything more outside than fill up the bird feeders.

Whilst washing up the lunch dishes I spotted two woodpeckers had arrived in the elder tree, but by the time I sorted out the lens on my camera, one had flown and the other was playing hide and seek behind the tree trunk.  Then I rare surprise, the redpoll arrived and sat on this branch, hunkered down against the rain, long enough for a blip.
