There are many wooden benches to rest your weary legs in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh.  They are always crammed with people, especially on those rare occasions when the sun shines - great for a picnic or to feed the birds and squirrels.  They have the most beautiful view over the gardens and across to the castle high up on the hill.  Most of the benches have been donated in memory of loved ones or to show gratitude and thanks to individuals, or like this one, to the people of the city.  It's quite moving reading them.
