The departure

Having travelled a lot becoming attached to a new place only to have to leave again is not a new feeling for me.

I captured this shot from my 3rd class seat on a train leaving Bangkok and heading north to Chiang Mai. Asia is a favourite continent of mine to visit and Thailand is one of my favourite countries to visit and this year was my 12th time there but as I hung out of the window and watched the city begin to vanish and the kids playing precariously close to the track I felt like I was leaving home for the first time, like I was leaving an old friend never to see them again and this image invokes that same feeling each time I look at it
