The Second Wave

In September, the blackbirds stripped all the berries from my whitebeam tree. This last couple of weeks, they have started on the Pyrocanthus.

Only in really severe winters do they resort to eating snowberries (Symphoricarpos).

They also eat the wild elderberries growing nearby but seem to ignore the berries on my ornamental Sambucus nigra 'Black Lace'. Maybe it is too close to the house.
