Making history

The one who calls me Papa and I have a few games we play, when we're out together. One is hiding the teletubbies in a hedge. There isn't one special hedge.. Any will do. I can't recall how it began, but it's now established practice. It's our shared experience. We enjoy it. It's become our tradition. Somehow, traditions begin, started for a reason, and years later their origins get lost in time. New stories emerge, explaining why the tradition is there. The tradition begins to become the focus and is elevated or laughed at. The purpose is lost. Be careful of denouncing the traditions of others just because they appear odd. Like tellytubbies in a hedge.
