Bath

T & C picked us up at 10 for our journey to Bath. Once there we headed straight for somewhere to eat (we didn’t have breakfast) and then had a wander around the Christmas market and city. Mr C and I have been to Bath a few times but it is a first for T & C. The weather was just glorious if blooming cold.

We then headed off to our b&b, about a 10 minute drive from Bath. Although quite expensive, it was a truly wonderful place to stay. Such attention given to detail. They kindly booked us a table at a pub a couple of miles from them which is where we headed once we had unpacked.

This is Pulteney Bridge, a Grade I listed building, over the river Avon. Built in 1774 it connected the city to the Georgian town of Bathwick. It is unusual as it has shops built across the span of the bridge on both sides and only buses and taxis are allowed to drive over it. Bath rugby club is just opposite from where I was standing to take this photo.

I have also included an extra of Bath Abbey. A building has been on this site since the 7th century and has been built/rebuilt in the 10th, 12th and 16th c. Superb gothic architecture. Sadly, this time we didn’t get to visit the Abbey or the famous Roman Baths. Mr C and I have been in both before but T & C haven’t.... I think another visit will be called for ;-))

This will be my entry for CB architecture.
