La vida de Annie

Protectora d´Animals

Went to another event organised by the local animal aid charity, this time in Es Castell. There was a marquee with various stalls, and a lot of dogs for adoption with handlers, mostly of the larger variety (dogs not people), and some looking very timid and fearful of all the crowds - you can only guess at what treatment they were subjected to before they ended up abandoned at the dog pound. No sign of Buster´s sister this time, although there were dozens of pet dogs with their families, all well behaved (dogs and people) and enjoying the day. The highlight was a display by a dog training group, who led various pets through an obstacle course of jumps, tunnels, hoops and a slalom run, with varying degrees of success. The champs of course were the collie, sheepdog cross, alsatian-type animals, although a massive white husky (shown) did a perfect round, as did a pretty spaniel. I had to laugh when a little fat pug was led on to do his thing. I got my camera ready for a humerous spectacle, but in fact got no pictures at all, as the little blighter was just too fast! He was over all the jumps in the manner of the dambuster´s bouncing bomb - they should really have had the music to accompany the performance. He stopped briefly at the halfway point to greet his fan club/groupies, a pack of cute bitches, and then finished the course with no faults earned, celebrating his victory by running off down the road with a guardia local in hot pursuit.
