The Bird Man of Hyde Park

TUESDAY

According to this gentleman, there are an estimated two to three hundred parakeets now settled in Hyde Park. On one tree alone I counted around a dozen eating the berries.

They have successfully trained humans to feed them.

What a fab day exploring new territory around Battersea. A walk along the riverside path through Nine Elms and past the former power station and the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. I then checked out Battersea Park and the Pear Tree Cafe.

Crossed the Thames over Chelsea Bridge and then had a nosey round the Royal Chelsea Hospital - home to the Chelsea Pensioners. What a great place - everyone smiled said good morning and all had a kind word.

On to Kings Road for lunch and a look round the Saatchi Gallery which had some bizarre exhibits, including Pussy Riot all centreing around Soviet repression.

It was then over to Hyde Park for hot mulled wine and visit to Winter Wonderland 2017. All the security staff and stallholders looked frozen to the bone as temperatures plummeted and a northerly breeze took hold.

I then walked around the Serpentine where I met the Bird Man and the parakeets under the last light of the setting sun.

Walked back to Westminster in time for the Evensong service at the Abbey.

28,155 steps so far and still have to go out for dinner.
