Getty Center, Los Angeles

The Getty is a Los Angeles landmark. People from all over the world come to see its modern architecture, gardens in the form of a scultpture, and many diverse exhibitions and growing art collections. It was designed by American architect Richard Meier.

The museum takes its name after Mr. J. Paul Getty, a succesful oil businessman and a passionate art collector. In his will, he requested that his fortune be used to create “a museum, gallery of art, and library for the diffusion of artistic and general knowledge.”
This year, on December 16th, the Getty will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
