Helena Handbasket

We took a little drive to see what is being built low down in our view. This side of this end of the island has three more-or-less parallel dirt tracks. The one along the ridge leads to our house. Our power and telephone lines are located along this ridge which is why they take such a battering whenever we get high winds as there is no shelter at all. Our little cottage is located on the middle lane and there is only one other house built along that one (so far). The bottom lane we refer to as 'Millionaire's Row' because truly, that is what it is (see extras). We feared that the new construction might become vast, as have other houses along this road but our inspection revealed no steel pointing upwards which tells us that no more storeys will be added above and what we can see is where the roof will begin. The roof will be either terracotta tiles or, if we are lucky, grey Pelion stone, either way it won't be an eyesore.

But the great discovery of the day was that Nikos Amazonias has another plot of land along this lane where he keeps a horse in another of his wonderful hand-crafted sheds.
