These orange ladybirds (Halyzia 16-guttat) which are relatively rare in Scotland were huddled together on a sycamore tree.  They have 16 white spots and, unlike most ladybirds which feed on aphids, they eat mildew.
The extra shows the view towards Edinburgh and the Pentlands in a bitterly cold wind with the waves crashing on the distant rocks.
