An Avid Lensman

Coffee

Rained all day, respite taken in a pub that sells coffee, cheap, in mugs.

Had this spot, wondered what I could snap for my blip entry, got bored, took a couple.

This, unedited basic jpeg's taken with that old 35mm f1.4 that I used for yesterday's shot, this time wide open. It attractively reveals the flaws inherent in a lens design from well over forty years ago, before computer-aided design. Namely, vignetting at wide apertures and barrel distortion when focussing close. As these added to the charm and cosiness of the shot, I left it as it was.

Depth of field so narrow on full-frame D700, that's a large vehicle stationary in a queue and a woman pushing a pram across a zebra crossing, not fifteen feet away.
