to Visit Ramsey Harbour

The sun was shining and it was an ideal day to wobble off on the bicycle towards Ramsey.

It is 108 years to the day that the SS Ellan Vannin  sailed from here and was lost with all hands off Liverpool.  There was a sudden violent storm and the ship was overcome in the relatively shallow waters.

The vessel was part of the fleet of our ferry company and to this day they have refrained from giving the same name to another vessel - perhaps wisely....
