Marché de Noël

Today was the first visit of what I hope to be many to Alsace's famed Christmas Markets, this one in my hometown. Strasbourg's remains, of course, the original one and the largest still.

We went during the day time, which misses a bit of the warm illuminations but has the benefit of being less cold (if zero celsius can be called that!). I love the sights of the little huts and their wares and especially the smells of 'vin chaud' that permeate the whole market (see extra). We went to warm up in a wonderful shop that overlooks the market, and enjoyed great pastries and a Viennese hot chocolate.
