Sinking pirate ship

Last year a self appointed pirate moored his boat on Faversham creek. Today, as we made our first visit there for some months,  we saw the self same boat leaning precariously into the water at high tide.

We spoke to  a couple of men who had nearby  pitched their tents complete with generator. The "pirate" (who had no experience or knowledge of seafaring)  had grounded his boat in low tide, abandoned it and ran off. It is believed he is now in India.  The men were self appointed salvage hunters waiting for low tide before they attempted to board the boat.

We spent a lovely day in the sunshine, looking at all the old boats (many Dutch ones) and learning their history from the display boards.

Lunch at our favourite Italian restaurant - Posillipo - which is located on the ground floor of Provender Mill on the east bank of the creek. The Mill is a 19th C warehouse converted into luxury flats.

The afternoon was spent looking at the exteriors of the many old listed buildings and browsing the few shops that were open on a Monday. It was a good way to spend a beautiful autumnal day.
