i remember the first time i ever saw one of these, i honestly had a hard time believing this was something that grew right here, all of its own volition.

when i saw it again today, growing on a trellis at garza high school, probably one of the poorest ones in town - just down from MLK & chicon, on the way to 15th. headed to drug deals gone wrong and gang fights over at 12th - the name came right back. i guess i've learned something.

but they have a gardening program there - alive and well and thriving.

the new tMG album is out and for those of you familiar with this journal's long history you know i love them quite a lot. my favorite song on the album is called night light - many lyrical gems within it, but my favorite perhaps:

dream of maybe waking up someday,

this is a dream though,
