Morris Minor, SVR, Highley,

This is the object which greets you as you enter the Severn Valley Railway, Highly Engine Shed . Its a brilliant museum housed in a modern building complete with terrace cafe overlooking the line.
This brings back so many memories for me - my parents' first car was a Morris Minor, WOK 797 and my first car as a young teacher in Somerset was one with the name Betty! With my parents I remember clearly being squashed in the corner of the backseat with camping equipment surrounding me and luggage tied on top like this, as we set off on our holidays to Wales!
The point of this exhibit was that the ability to own affordable vehicles like this meant the death knell for the branch lines under Beeching.
