Took her to get her eyes tested as there was a laser procedure down a month ago. Macular degeneration dry type in the other eye which can be helped by eating broccoli, kale and spinach none of which she eats but there are tablets too but expensive .

Went to visit dear Lexa in hospital. A great friend of my mum and friend of the family for a great number of years. Lexa ran the butchers shop in Blackford since it was sold to her by the Scobbies in the 70s.

A vibrant cheery woman struck down by lung cancer in July, despite never having smoked in her life.

We had a good visit, reminiscing and laughing at events from many years ago when we were all younger and healthier. It was sad to see Lexa a shadowy of her former self, but she still had that twinkle in her eye, still laughing, her Isley accent softer but still beautiful.

We hugged goodbye, and I just had a feeling...
