Shirley's Heights

Today was a trip round the island for me (Annie). Antigua is only small, so it's possible to drive round most of it in a day. We went with the excellent and lively Pink Panther jeep tours (all the guides and drivers on the jeeps were women - and ours was a part time pole dancing instructor!).

We stopped at an old Sugar Cane plantation, learning about the history of slavery there. Then on to Shirley's Heights - a historic military base looking out over Nelson's Dockyard (the view in the Blip).

Then down to the dockyard, a UNESCO heritage site. There was a sale there of multi-million pound yachts - we managed to get out without accidentally buying one.

On to a beachfront restaurant for lunch, then a drive via the rainforest to an hour chilling on a beach on the Caribbean Sea side of the island. This was made slightly less restful for me, by being knocked over by a big wave, giggling with another victim so much we then couldn't stand back up, and being dragged about like driftwood. I came home with sand *ahem* everywhere...

A final drive via the capital, St Johns, and back to our little enclave of villas. A fun day.
