Grandparents' Day

Today was Grandparents' Day at Elliott's Montessori School.  He is in the three year old class, and he had a lot of fun showing both sets of grandparents his school room and all the things he does in there!  Later, after dismissal and lunch, we went back to Elliott's house for a while to admire the Christmas tree.  Here is E. in a big box an ark, doing a little mechanical work on one of his bits of machinery.  And here is baby brother Henry doing what he does best -- looking utterly charming.  He is such a little ray of sunshine -- so happy and adorable!

On a much sadder note, Mr. W's poor father died this morning after a rather precipitous decline over the past few weeks.  We got the news when we were in Elliott's classroom.  It was difficult to remain cheerful and focused, but it was also quite a comfort to have our two darling grandchildren close by -- brimming over with energy and youthful exuberance.  This year has truly been an annus horribilis -- one that neither Mr. W nor I will regret coming to an end.
