The Village Next Door

This weekend is Stoke Fleming's 11th annual Christmas Tree Festival, for which I and other members of the village's Table Tennis Club decorated one of the two dozen trees on display. Today we returned as visitors to enjoy the whole display. I'm blipping views from some of my favourites decorated by other village groups. The top two rows show just a few of the many busy bears at a village show. It was put together by the Horticultural and Sports Club. (Funny mix! Don't know if two clubs joined forces, or if that is the name of their group, but a lot of work had gone into it - and the bears were given wonderful poses.) It also inspired my little ditty below!

Bottom left was decorated by a local firm of architects - cleverly turning the tree into a steepled church, with stained glass windows, and a vicar in the porch. Bottom right is an irresistible worm from a tree that was covered in worms, robins and butterflies. I think it was decorated by the 'loam rangers' (a gardening group, I imagine). All very beautiful and creative, and deserving, I felt, of a collage.

Teddies at the village show -
busy bears are they!
Teddies showing what they grow -
carrots win the day!

Teddies in a sack race,
giving it their all!
Teddies in a tug of war,
where losers trip and fall!

Teddies at the village show,
with cakes and cups of tea.
Teddies at the village show
are winners all, you see!

Have a good weekend. Keep warm if you're in a snowy area, and enjoy Strictly if you follow the contest. Should be exciting tonight when each remaining couple performs two dances.
