Frost and icy puddles on the footpath from East Linton to Dunbar and thick frozen ice (extra) marking the high tide mark on the Tyne estuary showed how cold it had been.  However it felt much warmer than yesterday when the very strong bitter wind had made it very uncomfortable for a picnic.  Today it seemed comparatively warm overlooking Belhaven Bay so it was quite pleasant sipping our mugs of soup watching a couple of hardy surfers braving the enormous waves.
