October Challenge - Prisoner - Saddo

Day 10 of the October daily challenge - The Prisoner.

You either love or hate this series (and whichever camp you are in you probably don't understand it)

Very much ahead of it's time it was a very dark, surreal series that was difficult to pigeonhole. Filmed in the wonderful village of Portmeirion (and they have been able to make money out of it since) it is about a former secret agent who was abducted and held in the Village. No-one has a name, only a number - our man is number 6. If you try to escape then Rover (a large balloon) will hunt you down.

I have to admit that I am in the love it camp, and have the full set of 6 DVDs (well it had to be 6 didn't it). An attempt to remake it a few years ago wasn't much of a success, but being made by Americans it had to be relocated to the middle of a desert and anything with a cult following like this is unlikely to have a successful remake, especially if you relocate it away from such a splendid setting.

I have visited Portmeirion a couple of times, but am not quite sad enough to have gone there in striped blazer, or for one of their Prisoner conventions.

Here I have my DVD set on a background of Portmeirion.

Be seeing you.
