Hello Malta

Up at silly o' clock for a very early flight meant landing in Malta by lunchtime. First impressions - Wow !

Here the city of Valletta is in the distance, beyond the superyachts and the Grand Harbour, piled up behind its massive city walls. On the left a little of Senglea, where we are staying, and on the right a section of Fort St. Angelo.
We had lunch on Senglea's waterside before heading up the steps to explore Senglea itself. The streets are tiny and some are steeply stepped. There appear to be few shops and, we discover, as it is Saturday, nowhere will reopen after siesta and we literally have nothing in with which to feed this boy. We wandered around a lot and found a viewpoint down into a massive shipyard, full of cranes which Fred loved. Eventually we found a pharmacy open and stocked up on packets of carrot sticks to see us through the evening. And a confectionary which happened to have olives, bread and Kerrygold. Thanks Ireland !
