Interference

This started off as a blip about Glen Hansard but like the gig morphed into something else. You may or may not know Glen from The Frames or maybe Once or if you're very old from Alan Parker's The Commitments . He was playing a solo gig in De Barra's last night. A total songwriter and singer, he was also central to the Apollo House occupation to highlight homelessness in Dublin. At a late stage in the gig he asked us to nominate a Cork based charity helping the homeless and all the money from the gig went to them.
The last time we saw Glen in De Barra's about 2 years ago, Fergus O'Farrell of the group Interference sang a few songs from his seat, Fergus died last year and Glen said he'd only just found out that some of Fergus's ashes are now behind a brick just above the piano in the shot. So the latter part of the gig became more about that and several members of Interference sang a few songs with Glen, sometime after midnight he said they never promised us a short gig. They finished with this. Gold
