Christmas Bush

I'm not entirely sure why this flower is known as Christmas Bush but I suspect that it has something to do with the fact that it only flowers around this time of the year!

It was the day to write Christmas Cards and I felt a little sad that this wonderful tradition of sending cards to friends and family has wained over the past few years. There's something really special about receiving a card, particularly when it comes from the other side of the world. How wonderful that someone cares enough to go to the trouble to select a card, write a caring message, seal the envelope, ensure that it makes it into a post box and then put their trust in their countries postal service to deliver it safe and sound to a tiny little post box in the Blue Mountains. Well I for one hope this tradition never ends :)
