Instead of a tree

When we were in town at the beginning of the week we thought we would buy a tree, but after looking at them, all lined up, the different types and sizes and prices, we decided against it.

They are fiendishly expensive this year, and we really don't have the room for one.  It always ends up being squashed in the corner of the sitting room, which has underfloor heating, and whenever anyone goes near it there are cascades of needles, which embed themselves in the carpet!  

Instead we have come up with a Cunning Plan!  Artificial swags of foliage on the beams, hung with the Christmas tree baubles and decorations, festooned with the tree lights and secured with what looks uncannily like festive razor wire!
