Adonis

I think that the first time I saw these ancient Cycladic figures it was in the Ashmolean museum in Oxford, but it may not have been. I love them! They seem so unexpectedly modern. They are so minimal yet they speak to me. I found this little bronze in a pre-Christmas half-price sale in Skop town and snapped him up. I have named him Adonis for the father of a friend. The friend and her father are from the Cyclades group of islands and the father, we understand, is currently very ill. I sort of want to put him on display in the cottage where he could be enjoyed by more people, but I sort of want to keep him safe here with me, we have, after all, had trophy hunters before.
