Season for the Norwegian nisse

The Norwegian nisse is a barn elf and much more cooler than Santa Claus. In Norwegian folklore he is described as a short man, not bigger than a horse's head, with lang beard, clothes similar as the farmers and a red long hat.

He lives in barns, very shy and hardly ever seen - except when the Norwegians decorate for Christmas ;-)

At Christmas we put a large bowl of porridge and home-brewed beer in the barn in the evening, so that he would be a good little helper in the barn looking after the livestock.  The nisse have a bad temper and do mischief if not treated well.
