Tarawera Times

Mt Tarawera

Guess it is that time of the year, after a rather big day, fell asleep on the sofa and no blip loaded!!!
Helped our friends prepare for their staff lunch yesterday, and stayed on and enjoyed a very long late lunch! The extra is one of the salads that I helped Lea put together, a roast vegie and Israeli couscous salad from Chelsea Winter's cook book - it tasted as good as it looked with lots of yummy flavours and textures.
Last year they wanted me to do a print for their large wall in the lounge, over 2 metres long. Chris wanted to have the mountain in their room as they don't get a view of it from their house. He didn't want any fancy sunsets or sunrises, just needed to see the mountain and all its details. Ended up taking a number of vertical shots on a clear Autumn afternoon and making them into a panorama. Had it printed onto ACM board (aluminium core metal), they had to collect it in their truck as it was too big for the car, and I was thrilled to finally see it on their wall. It is very simple but I think it is quite dynamic. The detail is amazing and in fact your can see fisherman in the boats underneath the mountain. Somehow you get a real buzz seeing your work up on a wall.
