All Saints' Church

The spire of All Saints' Church stands 180ft above the Cumbrian town of Cockermouth. It's a beautiful church in a beautiful setting, and has the added attraction of being the site of William Wordsworth's baptism. His father, John, is buried in the churchyard.

The footpath running alongside the church leads to the site of the old Grammar School which Wordsworth attended as a boy. Another pupil was Fletcher Christian, leader of Mutiny of the Bounty in April 28th 1788.

Both famous Cumbrians would have worshipped in this church.
