Shelved

Advocaat is heavy going. Getting into the Christmas spirit whilst arriving at Helen and Berry's for the most fantastic wintry pie lunch, Arathi and I enthusiastically accepted pint glasses of advocaat. These had to be shelved periodically when the creamy alcohol became too much. We plied away at them through the day, instituting a post-it system to reclaim the correct glass. Six hours later I drained mine and was full to the brim of advocaat for at least another year.

Not wanting to take the easy option and reach for our Wikipedia apps, we also debated the contents of advocaat. It tastes like an odd drink; like a yellow cough medicine. The bottle only warns that it 'contains eggs'. We guessed vodka and we feared fermented eggs. It turns out to be brandy.
