Watch The Birdie

A tale of two tradesmen today. One was supposed to come and fix a leak in our windows and the other has been busy for the last 2 months repairing the church roof.

The windows were to get fixed under warranty by the builder of our new house. They have already been repaired once but the problem has persisted. It was reported months ago and it was agreed it would be fixed before the Winter. Several phone calls and emails later and an arrangement was made for the joiner to call today. Nobody arrived and we got a call from the builder to say his joiner would be with us at lunchtime. Needless to say nobody appeared and we haven't heard from the builder. Back to more phone calls and emails!

When I called at the church this morning it was raining, but the roofer and his two sons were working away on the last part of the roof. I pointed out that this area needed to be finished before the service on Sunday. This was no problem to the roofer who worked away and was still there at 6 0'clock finishing off the last bits and pieces. The contrast in attitude between the two tradesmen to their customers is amazing, but no prizes for guessing who will be getting our business and recommendations in future!

Inbetween managing tradesmen, I found time for a few bird blips. I was trying to get a decent shot of a Coal Tit when this Dunnock landed on the wall beside me. He was staring right down the lens through the branches of a bush and just asking to be blipped - so I obliged.

Is it just me or does he look a bit grumpy?
