Three...

Lovely day with the girls preparing for Christmas.. a few mince pies (GF) made and they smell absolutely delicious.  A nice walk to collect holly but sadly none with berries anywhere or in the shops so just a few leaves this year. In the evening we headed out to our candlelit carol service via the hall where they laid on mulled wine and canapes to get us all in the mood.  There was much merriment and we heard that our eldest daughters best friend in the village while growing up got engaged last weekend... quite wonderful news but somehow it seems just a blink since she was 6 and hurtling along the road on her bicycle.  Where does time go??  We had asked a couple of friends to join us from another village for our candlelit service and to join us for supper afterwards.. l popped the supper (moussaka) into the oven for a quick blast half an hour before we left and then in to a warming oven while we were out.  It was during the first of the nine carols that l had a horrible realisation that l had forgotten to move it to the cooler oven.. and quickly calculated that it would have been in the hot oven for 3 hours before we got back to it!!!! B*******R!!!!!!!!!    I knew we had some ham.. so resigned myself to a burnt supper and just tried to enjoy the service..
Remarkably we were able to rescue the meal.. took off the charred top and added some cheese and in the end it was delicious!! PHEW!

Oh and an explanation for the photo... briefly.. l left my glasses at home so couldnt see a word of the carols on the sheet so ended up taking a photo of them on my phone and enlarging it to a size l could read without glasses so that l could sing the 3rd 4th and 5th verse!!

Fun and games... roll on a relaxed Christmas eve
